The Phillies Win the World Series. Hallelujah.
We can all rejoice.
They did it the old-fashioned way, with pitching and defense. They were third in the national league in ERA (in a hitter’s park) and they were among the league leaders’ in defense. Up the middle, they were strong in the leather with rollins and utley and victorino, and ruiz behind the plate.
Pitching was solid with Cole Hamels and Brett Myers, and solidified with the addition of Joe blanton, who was a number #2 in Oakland and ended up a #4 in Philly. The bullpen was great all year long with Brad Lidge never blowing a save.
Jimmy Rollins predicted 100 wins, and actually, with the world series and playoffs, the phils won more than that.
And the mets? well, they stayed home and watched.
The parade was fun, by the way.
